Quality Care is Right Around the Corner

Quality care is right around the corner. With doctors in locations throughout Contra Costa County and parts of Alameda and Solano counties, your primary care doctor is never far away.

From managing your child's asthma to making sure you get your flu shot, primary care doctors often act as your first contact when it comes to the medical care you need. Primary care doctors have a breadth of knowledge across many areas of medicine and bring together a broad range of preventive and curative health care.

Primary care doctors coordinate your care by giving referrals to specialists, ordering lab tests or x-ray services, and arranging hospital admissions. They often take care of you for many years, getting to know you and your health history by providing you with comprehensive, continuing health care at all stages of your life.

Types of Doctors

In addition to diagnosing and treating illnesses, primary care doctors at John Muir Health promote health, patient education, and disease prevention.

  • Internal medicine: Focusing on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases.
  • Pediatrics: Caring for infants, children, and adolescents and their physical, mental, and social well being.
  • Obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN): Caring for women in pregnancy and childbirth (obstetrics) and promoting reproductive health, disease prevention, and treatment (gynecology).
